Just picked up a few records of interest: one of them was a label I had never seen before.

There's no company or patent information - it appears to be early/mid '20s:

Any guess as to the manufacturer/ source of matrix/ etc.?

That was a department store label for the National Department Store Co., pressed by Grey Gull --

According to the discographical project website -- http://www.78discography.com/ -- the Grey Gull pressing (#1297, Matrix 3690/3687)was recorded sometime in July, 1925 -- http://www.78discography.com/GG1000.htm

Yep - Joe hit the nail on the head. National Department Stores, mid 1920s.

I've found a few of this label over the years, but not very many. Not a label you see every day.
