Someone just took an off the shelf table radio and put it in the case. A neat enough job, but could have been better (or much worse)

Yes,
An RCA table model tombstone has replaced the original Radiola 28.
Hopefully the opening was not cut or altered.
Overall the case does not look bad.
If the price stays reasonably low, this could be a worthwhile project for the Orthophonic lover.

Looks like a very nice example. What do you think of the sound quality?
These machines sold well for a reason. When the pick up is properly rebuilt (as the unit in your machine doubtless is) these machines offer really fine reproduction.
