Any idea whose estate this collection is from? It looks as though he'd been pretty well organized and probably at it for some time. Makes me a little sad when I see sales like this -- obviously someone had a love for phonographs, and his heirs mostly likely don't get it. Reminds me again that I'd better get around to making little notes to future owners and slipping them into my machines, just to pass on the stories...

I'm pretty new to this but others here may know of this collector. Like Cody said it looks like the sale of a long time collector.
I have been mostly buying records through ads and auctions and at thrift stores. I did attend one estate sale that didn't have any phonographs just a large amount of 30's and 40's 78s but I found it unnerving. I was overwhelmed by the sense that I was in someone else's home surrounded by their lifelong belongings and the irreverence of people practically knocking each other over to get at stuff. Besides being broke I would be hesitant to attend this sale. Because it is a relatively short notice one day sale in a large metropolitan area I think it is likely going to be a serious picking competition.

If any Forum member went to this sale, I'd love to hear all about it. Thanks, Jerry

As an animal lover, I would like to rescue Nipper (If he didn't sell.)

Nice how someone removed the Edison light bulb fixture before the sale.

As crazy as it might seem, it is slightly possible the Opera did not sell. I recently had an estate sale at my parent's house. Half of all items may go unsold. The right person has to come along to discern the Opera from other "junk". Perhaps someone up that way should follow up with the company that managed the sale.
