Wood for mouldings

Hi
I need to make some repro cabinet mouldings for my Columbia Graphophone. Can anyone help with the question. Do I use American WHITE oak or RED oak.

White oak was originally used.

And it was quarter-sawn, not flat-sawn as you will find at the home centers nowadays...
