Weekend Victrola Purchase

I attended an estate sale in an old historic Portland neighborhood this weekend and came home with this VE-XVI. The people running the sale said many of the items had been in the home for generations. I love big old Victrolas and couldn't resist this purchase. I need to round up a gold Exhibition and needle cup but that shouldn't be too hard. The motor doesn't run yet but I am optimistic. Jerry Blais

Ooh, that's a nice one. I couldn't have passed it up either as it's my favorite iteration of the XVI and a very early example of the electric drive.

Seconding the congrats Jerry! It looks to be in very nice condition indeed and would be a fine addition to anybody's collection. I love those little round-globe lights.

Not sure who does good electric motor rebuilds.

Please keep us posted on your progress with this machine Jerry. There's not a lot of information out there about resurrecting these
electric motor Victrolas. I'd love to see the internals and the solution to its current issues.

Congrats!
