Just over an hour to go. Get ready to bid, folks! Fasten your seat belts, this could be a bumpy ride in the last 30 seconds. I figure something like that might fetch 40 or 50 thousand in the States.

$25K. I thought it would go much higher.

Edit to add: and in Euros it was a bargain. The dollar price is higher than it might have been because it has lost quite a bit of value against the Euro recently. Just in the last couple of weeks it has dropped about 2%, and even more since last summer.

So did I. We have seen them go much higher without the Bettini reproducer. Has the economy gotten that bad?

Maybe being a local pickup only in Bègles, France, affected the price?

At those prices, the high bidder could undoubtedly afford to arrange it to be picked up by a 3rd party and then shipped.

Any time a seller refuses to ship, arrange shipping, or otherwise puts an obstacle in front of a buyer, no matter how deep the pockets may be, it limits the market, especially with big-ticket items. The more money people have, the more they want to be accommodated. If the seller of this item had offered free world-wide shipping (which would not have cost more than say, $1,000), I would guess that the item would have sold for $5,000 more at least.

I would like to invite some knowledgeable assessments of this machine.

From what I see the cabinet is a reproduction, old but reproduction, and if you look down center of the Bettini reproducer there is no diaphragm or stylus.

Maybe it did not go for the high price as it is incomplete?

The cabinet looks legitimate to me. It's tough to be absolutely sure from photos, but nothing jumps out. As a matter of fact, there are some minor flaws noticeable. If these flaws were faked, one would expect the faker to complete the Bettini reproducer! ;)
