I thought I'd share this tune I found at the Wayne show last weekend.
Anything from the High Hatters is worth a listen, and this one's infectious!
Hope you enjoy it, and have a nice weekend!
Bob

Bob

You are very correct the High Hatters are very infectious.

I am more of a phonograph machine collector but have a few fun records like this around would be perfect to demo them to visitors.

Thanks

Bruce

Thanks for the post, Lucius. The Seven Gallon Jug Band is fine, but it isn't a jug band in the strict sense---there's no jug! There's a bari or bass sax, to be sure. And a hot clarinet solo! But no jug. And no trombone either, for that matter (as a trombonist, I call that an unforgivable omission!).

I notice that you also have Scrappy Lambert singing "Ready for the River" posted. I have a completely different Lambert recording of that tune, on a red Perfect, backed by "My Pet." The lyrics of the Perfect "RFTR", except for the refrain, are all different from the Brunswick version. I'll look up the details on the Perfect and post them later.

Later: "Ready for the River" (Kahn-Moret), Sam Lanin and His Orchestra (Vocal Chorus, Scrappy Lambert), red 10" Perfect 14978, b/b "My Pet" (Yellen-Ager), Sam Lanin, etc. There's a cornet (trumpet?) solo on "My Pet" that sounds very like Bix, and indeed it just might be (see wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Lanin).

Apologies for hijacking the thread!

My first exposure to "The High Hatters." Good stuff. I will watch for their records.
