Flemish Oak… Or just really filthy mahogany? I would think the former, based on the decal picture, but the latter based on the other pictures.
I wonder what's with the brown electrical cord and the table leg (?) under and behind the tonearm, respectively.

It is Flemish or Gunmetal Oak. The picture with the Victrola decal shows the finish. It could be restored. Those unusual Oak finishes are scarce.

It looks dirty as all heck, but I'll bet it would clean-up surprisingly well.
At $175 BIN, if it were within 150 miles of me, I would have grabbed it...

It didn't sell and has just been relisted. A good buy for somebody.

Is it just me, or does the turntable sit off to the left awfully far? And why is the speed indicator missing? Has this been re-motored?

It is an odd looking configuration. There does look to be a shaft sticking up where the speed indicator would attach though.

I agree that it certainly looks to have been remotored, apparently with something electric. Aside from that and being generally filthy, it looks to be very restorable, depending on what they may have done to the motorboard when they changed motors.

What's that round thing sitting at the back between the lid and the tone arm? Could the cord possibly be related to it?

If you blow up the image of the side of the cabinet, you'll see the dead giveaway -- a cord sticking out of the "winding hole."
