I thought this may be a fun thread.

If out of your entire collection you had to chose one machine that you could safely call your favorite, what would it be? :D

For the time being, mine is not so much a single machine but a combination of two things, which is my HMV 31 with a EMG MK9 horn, I love these two! they sound great also! ;)

I don't have too many machines, but if I were forced to keep only one, I'd keep my VV230 console because it's the most versatile as far as playing records in my collection, and it looks good sitting in its corner of the living room.

Having said that, I hope I'm never driven to actually make that decision. :(

The machine I'll take to the phono nerd old folks home is my dark oak Amberola 1-A. My mentor and good friend, Ira Dueltgen, helped me buy it many years ago. Jerry Blais

Sure, it's just a generic off-brand phonograph BUT it is special too me. It was assembled back in 1924 only 10 miles from where I live now; I also know this phonograph's full ownership history. It sounds very nice and is gentle on records too.

My first; my wife's Great-Grandparents bought it new in 1906-7. Their daughter married, and her husband made this cabinet for it in the 1930's. It was in their home until she passed away in 1986, then it came home with us.

It may not be the prettiest machine that I own, but it is the most special and it will never leave us.

That is an easy question! The most recent purchase! Ask me in a month, and the answer will be the same. They are all amazing machines!

When I can find one that plays 78s, 2 and 4 minute cylinders and DDs at peak quality, I'll let you know… ;)

All nice choices I would have to say as of right now my machine that gets the most play and gives me the most bang right now is my Victor Radiola RE45 It sits in my great room next to my A150 which is very close in my affections and is a great DD machine with a great sound but the aspects of the radiola no winding flip a switch etc make it a real joy to play records plus the sound is hard to beat! A great transition machine the best of both worlds! Sorry I don't have a pic to post of it from this laptop but here is one from of the net
