Very interesting indeed, though I would be surprised if that design actually has any audio benefits- probably just a marketing trick.

A UK make used this design, coupled to a doubled tone arm- they claimed that the shorter needle bar handled high frequencies, and the longer the lower. I've seen German machines that used two tone arms coupled together. I agree, just a novelty.
