A Happy Memorial Day to everyone, and Thank You to the men and women that have served in the past and are serving now.
While attending the Military Show held at the F.D.R. Home and Library in Hyde Park, New York, I found this Edison Army/Navy Diamond Disc on display. The owner played it for me and it sounded very good, and it truly is BIG and heavy. I have never seen one in person till now.
We also brought along our B-19 Chalet to play Edison marches, and an HMV 102 to play later Miller, Crosby, and Andrew Sisters discs. A good time was had by all. That is my son Justin with the phonos, dressed for WWII Paratrooper reanacting.
Thanks, Mike

Looks like a peaceful day under the trees.
Nice photos, and to see the Army/Navy in its element is a treat.
James.

I forwarded the photo of your son to my dad who is one of the few remaining survivors of the 101st Airborne Easy Company and he wanted to know if he wanted to go "jumping" with him. At 94 that's just not going to happen though he did buddy jump at 88. I will be spending the day with him tomorrow.

I had a opportunity to pick up a Edison Army/Navy several years ago about 20 miles from me in Chesterton, IN. I declined as I thought it was overpriced for such unsightly machine.
A couple years ago I ran into a guy that had one in his collection, his Army/Navy machine was nice. He told me they are worth at least $1,000.00
I think I missed a deal, but what did I know.

Mike,
Thanks for sharing these photos with us. That is one very pretty Chalet! I've been to FDR's home in Hyde Park while doing a week long course at the Culinary Institute of America many years ago. I didn't realize that special events were held there. Very neat!

Thanks to all for the replies to my post.
I was quite taken aback by the size and construction of the Army/Navy, but this one did sound just as you would expect from a Diamond Disc.
Each year on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, an outdoor Military Encampment is held along with a live battle field reanactment. Anyone interested in Military History would enjoy this, and the FDR Home and Library are wonderful and worth the visit.
Thanks again, Mike
