Broken screw in a Victor II govenor ring

I recently acquired a Victor II in very good condition in need of a couple of repairs. I got everything done, except one. The ring closest to the gears that the governor weights are attached to has a broken screw in it. Does anybody know of the thread size for the screws? I was thinking I could drill the screw out and clean the threads with a tap. Does anybody have a spare or know of where to get a spare? Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks,
Brian

something to think about, you do not want to big otherwise the hole may have to be made larger in the governor spring. I had one of these break. I am not sure of the size...contact George Vollema @ the victrola doctor...I dont have his number off hand.

If you have a music store near you that repairs muscial instruments, they will have a handy tool to remove that screw and not mess up the threads. I think it is a 2-56, but I am not sure. I have a tool for that from a friend who repaired instruments. It looks like a screwdrive, but instead of a blade, it has round, sharp, seratted edge that bites into the head and will let you back that screw right out. Soak it in your favorite penetrating oil first: Kroil, 50% ATF/50 acetone, whatever you like.
