Spencerian by Westphono

I have an opportunity to buy a unique phonograph by Westphono. It is a Spencerian Model T and is basically a four legged writing (sloped) desk about 3 feet by 2 feet. The phonograph part neatly folds under including crank.
Does anyone know of this model and is it worth 500 bucks?
Thanks Terry

Looks like a Brunswick Ultona tone arm on it.

Looks like you need to be a contortionist to wind it up!

The Spencerian appears in Wakeman's article on off-brands (it's #348 in the list) found at the Antique Phonograph Society website:

http://www.antiquephono.org.

The article is in the "Intermediate" series.

It is a little quirky, particularly as to winding, but I kind of like it and it looks to be in good condition. I expect there can't be many of them out there.

I'd say $500 is a little steep, but there can't be many of them out there - and the table looks good.

The arm is definitely a replacement - but if it fits correctly it is probably better than the original.

Should I offer 300 or does it have much resale value. I really don't need another phonograph but we"ve all heard that before,ha ha!

Hard to say, as it would likely be tough to find comparable sales for comparison. Why not start out by offering $300 and see what happens. Some sellers are willing to dicker.

It would be a nice machine in a collection because you could use it to sort records or display things, while still playing it.
