Playing Edison records on a lateral pickup reproducer?

In a previous thread on this forum ( http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... =2&t=15047 ) I found a picture of a stylus meant for playing Edison diamond discs on a lateral pickup machine and I was wondering if it would be possible to re-create one and play Edison electric diamond discs on radio phonos such as the c-4 or a victor re-45 and if it would work.

P.S. Sorry I couldn't post the picture of the stylus, I couldn't figure out how to post it to this thread.

I'd be worried about the tracking-weight of a Victor ( or similar ) soundbox doing harm to the surface of the Diamond Disc.

If we're going to play DD's on a non-Edison machine, I'd think that a Pathé or Brunswick Ultona might be safer...
