Wow ! That is a sweet-looking machine !

From the Serial tag, it appears this one has the universal-motor... do these sound like a Mixmaster ?

If it were closer I would grab it in a heartbeat !

Someone grab it! A similar phono sold at a local auction for about the same price, but in mahogany.

The listing has been removed. What was the asking price?

Asking price was $600. Evidently, the circus started when some greedy phonograph collectors just could not leave well enough alone and face the possibility that they just may have to face the fact that their life may have to move forward without this machine. So, the equally greedy seller entertained a "bidding war" (his own words)to appease the hunger of the collectors. What a damn joke. It was priced at $600. Therefore, the first $600 should have loaded it and took it home. Once again...Greed trumps all else. As I said before...the face of the hobby. Like it or not, it is true.

That sort of thing goes on all the time, unfortunately, but it's also in violation of the Craigslist terms of usage, as noted under the site's FAQs --

"Can I put a link in my for sale posting pointing to an auction site like eBay?
No. Please post a set price, do not solicit bidding, and do not link to auctions elsewhere."

If you ever spot a seller trying to solicit bids, they advise you to flag the ad by clicking on the Prohibited button. (Not that that does much good.)

Actually, it does. I believe if 3 people report a listing, it is automatically removed.

Yet another scenerio where, although there are "Rules and Regulations", when you combine the inability to police and enforce said rules and regulations, with the flagrant, undisciplined, greedy collectors (and sellers)...it becomes a perfect marriage!!.
