Genuinely Weird 'Berg ArTone'

(edit: I found this listed elsewhere for $150, with the maker named: Berg ArTone)

This is the oddest duck I've seen for a while, except for the obvious Frankenphones on ebay. A floor model, apparently wrapped like a portable in Fabrikoid or some such stuff! Really strange. I wish I could see it in person, but there'd be the danger of bringing home yet another phono-orphan (like the VE-120)

Note the embossed gold decor on the lid, reminiscent of the stuff on Cecilian and other portos.

I just saw the craigslist add. You know, for $100.00 I'd get it. It is just so neat and weird. It doesn't look all cobbled up like you see with crapophones, or frankenphones. If I was close by, I would get it. It's just one of those cool, weird things that make a collection interesting. The price is right, too.

I saw one that was nearly identical for sale in an antique shop in Waynesville, Ohio, about 15-20 years ago. It was covered in black leather or leather-cloth, and it had touches of gold colored trim. It was so unique, I remembered it all these years. There was also a gold colored grille cloth covering the horn's mouth.

I also remember that it was priced at $300. I asked about shipping to San Francisco, but the shop wouldn't do it.

I've never seen another like it, until today.
