Last year my big Union purchase was a wonderful Eldridge Johnson C. I returned home, polished it a bit, and called DeeDee down to the basement to see my big purchase. DeeDee is very polite and said what a nice machine it was and then took a few steps and said "but it looks just like this one" as she pointed to a nice little front mount Vic E. Both machines are similar in size and style and, at best, the E is worth about 33% of the Johnson C. My goal this year was to buy something different.

This spring I was able to finish and sell some really nice machines that were duplicates and I expected to travel to Union with a good chunk of spending money. All that changed in the parking lot of the Wayne show when I saw Gregg Cline's Victor Toy machine. I couldn't resist. It was something much different than anything in my collection so I committed to make the purchase. But making a commitment and actually paying for it were two different things. I came home from Wayne and listed a bunch of things in the Trader section with promises to deliver to Union or CAPS. Thanks to many purchases from Forum members, I was able to pay for the Victor Toy at Union.

Very nice Jerry. There have been a few Victor toy models that have surfaced in the last couple years. Funny how that works sometimes.
You will need to find this record as the machine was sold with it. It was also the very first double sided record ever offered.

On the way to Union we stopped to see a collector in Kansas. He offered several really nice items and both Dan and I couldn't resist. I bought the Edison C in the banner case that I posted yesterday. In addition to that, I bought a really nice Musicalphone sold by the Englewood Company. It's a interesting little machine obviously made by Columbia. I also bought his 24B Victor horn. In truth, these were purchased with another commitment to buy and pay for them at Union. Any unpaid balance would be paid by check as soon as possible. As it turned out, sales at Union were so brisk that I was able to pay Kent with cash by early afternoon on Friday at Union. Jerry
