Auto Stop Problem on tabletop Orthophonic

I was playing a record today on my Victor VV J-80 (Japanese Orthophonic) and the machine stopped playing halfway through the record. All of my records play half way. Does anyone know why this "scissor type" auto-stop is stopping half way through?

With the turntable off, check the points "A" and "B" on your brake.
The picture below shows the brake in the off (turntable stopped) position.
I had the same problem with the brake tripping prematurely. My point "A" was a bit high, and wouldn't seat securely at point "B" during play. Carefully bending "A" downward a bit took care of the problem. It's better to remove the brake assembly from the motorboard to do this. It's all easier to view and understand that way too. Your brake may be a bit different from the one pictured.
You shouldn't need any oil if all the metal parts are clean. Also check to see that all the springs are in place. Good luck!

Thanks Bob! I got it working, although mine is different the point like you said was a little higher so I had to bend it.
