The Talking Machine Forum — For All Antique Phonographs & Recordings

This is being listed on eBay as a stand for an Edison phonograph (apparently because it had been used for that previously). Looks like a pulpit to me. Anyone familiar with it?

I really shouldn't be surprised, but it continues to impress me how imaginative some of these sellers can be... The "Edison stand" bears a slight resemblance to the podium used for some Graphophone coin-ops, but it's too shallow and lacks a door (is that speaker cloth?). Sort of like saying that Drew Barrymore is really Marilyn Monroe...because they're both blonde.

Here's one of my favorites. This seller even uses one of our books to "prove" her point! In a court of law, that evidence would lose the case!

But I keep asking myself, how did she decide her cabinet had anything to do with an Echophone? This seller is about 15 miles from my home; maybe I should stop in and ask her!

It's nice to see your books are being used to help others in a constructive way ... . However, I think the seller made an error in their user name. Should it not be "theantiquefoole".... .
