Victor No.2 Soundbox Needlebar

Greetings all,
Brand new to the forum and hoping to gain some insight regarding a few things on a VV-IXa I recently purchased.
For starters I've done a bit of research on my own to no avail. My questions are all regaring the title, the needle bar. When I purchased my Victrola one of the balance springs was broken at the bend. I bought a diaphragm kit and rebuilt that, however, in doing so,I may have found the problem for the broken spring. I installed the balance springs to the needle bar and once this was done I noticed that they do not line up on the same plane. Its as if the mount boss on the needle bar has been twisted in a way that once the springs are installed it will require a bit more force than necessary, I should think, to install the springs to the soundbox. Has anyone experienced this problem, or have any insight for a newcomer?
Mike.
