Would you be so kind to help me with my C250/C19 data collection? I am compiling information about certain characteristics related to the production of these fine Chippendale Phonographs throughout their lifetimes for historical purposes.

I can get most of what I need from your pictures, but could you also provide the following for me?

1. Is the "Official Laboratory" medallion round, pentagonal or missing?

2. Exact Wording of the Medallion: Please be precise (Abbreviated signature, for example)

3. Any Dealer Tag? Name/Address, and its' location on the machine.

4. Any original dated sales receipt/shipping documentation, etc? (Dates are particularly noteworthy)

Also, I noticed that you don't have a price listed for yours, when posting here, it is specified in the rules that you do that.

Can you supply a better picture of the top works? I can't tell precisely, but the plating on the horn throat appears to not be gold, and that would imply that the mechanism was likely removed from another Diamond Disc Phonograph. That would negatively affect the value significantly. Also, the cabinet appears to have been refinished with varnish or polyurethane. That, too, will have a significant effect on value.

Fran this looks like a pretty high serial number. I'm guessing that the gun metal mechanism may be correct on this one. I also see it's got the 10 & 12 inch buttons and the orange platter that one might see in the later years.

It also includes a windshield wiper handle from a Ford car, oddly enough.

Note too the diamond-patterned grille cloth, as used after 1926.
This does appear to be a lovely example of a very late C-19.

Thank you, Valecnik you are correct. After reviewing my data, I did in fact note that #172249 has both of these characteristics also.

Hi, the medal is round and I've included a picture. I don't know the date of purchase and haven't seen any dealer tags. My grandparents (who owned this) lived in Birmingham, Alabama but could've acquired it somewhere else. I know they lived in South Africa at one point.

My apologies for not listing a price. I'm not sure what it's worth or what is a fair price. I found this forum during my initial search and figured I'd begin here with the experts!

I'm happy to take more pictures or assist you in trying to answer additional questions about it.

It may not matter at all, but the part that limits how far the record storage door will open is located at the top of the door on this machine. Mine is an earlier machine (C-19) and the same part is in the middle of the door and attaches to the shelf between the two storage shelves. This may be a feature of a later machine. Can you tell us Fran, whether this is a sign of a later machine? When did this change take place?

Unfortunately, I can't comment on this feature change. I will make a note to so that I can gather more data to include this particular change. The most difficult part of my research has been extrapolating hard dates that correlate to the changes that were made just to the C250 in the first few years of production. I'm sure the last years will not be easy, either.

The notation of minutiae has significantly evolved over the course of my investigation into the Chippendales.

Thank you much, Sam, I appreciate your response.

In regards to a price to ask, I regret that the C19's generally don't command a very high price, but I don't think you'd be unfair to start at $350.00 and go from there. I've seen very nice complete machines go for significantly less than that recently. Of course being a "late" version with your particular features, someone might be looking for something from this particular production range.

Just my $.02 worth.

If the folks here don't think that's fair, they'll typically let you know pretty quickly.
