Riveted Victrola Motor Spring Barrel Repaired

I needed to quiet the thump and bump and boom from the spring unwinding in my J 1-80 Orthophonic. The motor is a "pancake" single spring motor. The obstacle is the spring barrel is riveted shut with 6 rivets.
I filed off the rivets with a file and finished filing with a dremel, then I pushed out the old rivets. I checked the spring, dry as could be. I added some Moly grease, and then closed the barrel and installed the six small #2 screws and nuts.
After installing the motor, everything works like a charm, no more thump and bump.
