FOR SALE: Columbia Q Recorder in Box- SOLD

This is one of those cool items that really dress up a machine and are not that easy to find.

This is an original Columbia Q recorder. It is in nice condition with the original glass diaphragm, but missing the cutter stylus. The cool thing about this is that it has the original box. These are really hard to find! The lid top would need just a little work to make this a true show piece. As it is, it would make a wonderful upgrade to that little Q that you have sitting on your shelf.

The price is SOLD. No PayPal on this, checks are fine.

Thank you

Shawn,
Was this also used on the Model B Eagle? The reason I ask this is this same recorder came with my Model B. Also, the long neck seems to fit with the Model B. Any info would be great.

Harvey,

I believe the Model B recorder was actually a bit shorter than the Model Q. Here is a picture of them both side, by side - Model B on the left, Q on the right.

Shawn, Thanks for letting me know. I wonder why the Q recorder is longer than the B recorder? It seems that Q has a direct line from the carriage, horn and reproducer. I wonder what the extra length was for? The Q reproducer seems to be short compared to the recorder. Also, the B has the high set up with the reproducer, so I thought that it would be longer than the Q. This is very interesting.

The longer recorder might give the chisel a better angle to cut the record. Since there is no real weight on them it might not cut deep enough if it were riding in the same position as the reproducer.
