It's tough to tell from the photo but there is a difference between back brackets for a III, IV, & M bracket and one for a V, VI, & D. Jerry

Yes there is. Other than the decoration, the BB's for the larger machines are shorter to compensate for the larger case, and still have the soundbox fall at the center of the spindle. I believe the arms are all the same size.

I thought they were the same except the stenciling.

Penman is 100% correct. The tone arms are the same size on M, MS, D, III, IV, V, and VI. But the cabinets are roughly two sizes. If the arms are the same and the cabinet is large, the compensation is in the depth of the back bracket resulting in two sizes. When buying a Victor, ALWAYS check by rotating the reproducer and the needle should touch or nearly touch the spindle. Jerry Blais

Thanks for the posts. I am just looking for the tone arm for a Victor V or late D and not the back bracket. I need it for the late Victor D I posted in the Machines section with the odd speed control. So the search goes on.

The early Victrola used the same arm but usually in gold. They are exactly the same arm and after re-plating would look wonderful on your D. One sold recently in the Trader section at a very reasonable price. Jerry
