Victor D speed control

I was fortunate enough at the auction of Larry Schlick's collection to bring home a nice Victor D with the black paper Mache' horn. One unique thing on this Victor D is the speed control. Has anyone seen this before or knows the maker? The Patent date is 12-19-05.

I couldn't find this at first, so I checked
The Talking Machine World. There it was, on page 33 of the January 1906 issue. With the number, the rest was easy...

Thanks for your information on this. In over 30 years of collecting, this is the only one I have ever seen.
