Selling my Vic III-SOLD

I'm selling my Vic III if anyone is interested or knows someone who might be. It plays and sounds very well and the horn is completely original, not repainted. The plating could be better, but I have seen worse. No repro parts at all on this machine unless you count the felt. When I got it there was only about ⅔ of the felt there so it had to be changed.

If I could keep only one external horn disk machine, it would be a Victor III. I have owned one for 35 years as my go-to machine for regular use. I think that model has ideal attributes - its double-spring motor was engineered to be simple and powerful. Unlike the higher models with even larger motors and cabinets, it is light enough to pick up conveniently and move around. And it does not cost as much as the higher models.

I really like the machine and it plays wonderfully. I have an oak spear tip horn to go on my recently acquired Vic V coming home soon and need to raise funds to pay for the repair. I also have 3 reproducers out (zonophone concert, diamond B and DD) coming back soon as well. My phono budget for the year is nearly shot and one had to go. If this one had not been refinished before I got it, I might have chosen a different machine to sell, but someday I'll probably replace it with a more original one. I do like the III and as you say, it is an easy machine to pick up and take with you to "show off".

That seems like it went for a pretty good price (for the buyer). It doesn't
look like there was anything wrong with it either.

From my point of view, the only think wrong with it was the refinish job that someone had done in the past. I want a Vic III to keep in my collection, but for now, this wasn't it. I would like to have gotten a little more for it, but I got almost exactly what I paid for it last year and I got to enjoy it for a while. No regrets.
