I sent you a couple of needle bars, but I also sent Harvey a brush for his Edison machine. I got the envelope that the Harveys brush was in back destroyed. It seems that you can't put anything in a envelope and it arrive intact. They told me that when it goes through the automatic separator's, they get tore open. I can send you another, but will have to charge shipping. Here is what they sent me on the brush.

I know what you mean. You used to be able to send something in an envelope, but not anymore. So much for good service.

So much for good service.

The postal service had to automate in order to keep postage reasonable and delivery-service good. We would probably be paying $5 per letter if they still hand-sorted letters.

I think that the need to package phonograph parts in boxes rather than trying to get them through in paper envelopes designed for letters is a small price to pay for reasonable postage rates and quite good delivery times.

I agree. When you think about it, sending a letter across country for the cost involved is the best deal in the world. I was just being lazy and didn't even give it a thought.
