Edison's Model A

And no, not a Home!

I just returned from a week long trip in my '64 Dodge Dart GT to the "Western shore" of Michigan for a car event, and visited the Gilmore Car Museum while I was over there. If you have an interest in antique cars, I highly recommend you make it out to Hickory Corners, MI and spend the day.

Anyway, I was very excited to discover a very special Ford Model A on display. Of course, the fact that this car is serial number 1 is interesting enough, but it's owner was none other than Thomas Edison!

And of course, you can't drive a classic car to the Gilmore Museum without doing a photo shoot in front of the 1930 Shell Station (the car is much newer, but it's easy to look past.)

That's great! I knew about the new Model A museum at the Gilmore estate but I didn't know they had Edison's #1 on display. That was apparently in storage at the Ford Museum in Dearborn for many years.

Wonderful Pictures and story. I just love your car.
I just happened to watch a show on TV last evening about Nickola Tesla and Edison. Edison was a brutal, evil man in the business world. And Tesla was brilliant but not a business man.
I think Henry Ford was possibly Edisons best friend.
Didn't he record 4 special DD for Ford?
BTY, Here is my old car.

Well, I have to add to the Gilmore Museum pictures. Here is my 1930 Town Sedan at the Gilmore's service station and one in front of the Ford dealership exhibit. This old Ford just rambled right along!!!!

Okay, so I've posted pics of my Model A before but I'm going to add one more just because of the circumstances: my daughter's wedding last June. To my great delight, she asked me to use the Ford in the ceremonies. Great, great time.

Looks like it was a great day, Rene.

It's curious, but I don't have any pictures of our daughter with my bicycle...! :)

What a great group of toys, I'm sensing a theme here. Here's my 69 I've had over 30 years now.

Very nice bike George. my wife just got a Trek but your and her riding styles are very different. Hers is a low slung, big tire, big seat, big handle bar bike ;)
