This phonograph sold at an auction in England this morning for 360 stifling pounds or About $566.00 what a steal. I was not the high bidder. Here is a picture. I think it was a very early machine.

Very interesting..... It's not Amet. Looks like a Class M upper bedplate mated to a Home Model A motor/lower bedplate and put in a custom case. Also looks like it had a repeater on it and some other home built components. It is still really cool!

It looked like an Amet machine based on the pictures in The Complete Talking Machine. Here are a couple pictures showing the rail.

Overall, the look is similar. Amet had his own spring motor design and utilized a nicer case with front opening, rounded corners and lid locks which were hidden inside the case. This machine has the same on/off switch and speed control as the Home A. Based upon that I am assuming that the motor is Edison. Amet also had his own lower bedplate. The bedplate on this machine also looks to be Edison.

Amet used a Class M topworks (or Graphophone treadle-style mechanism) but everything else was of his own design.

The auction machine appears to have a Home motor and bedplate, with Class M topworks and a homemade reproducer and other carriage parts, and a homemade cabinet. A very interesting piece, it would be fun to know its history.
