C-250 motor plate mount felt vibration damper

Hi folks,

A few weeks back, George P. and myself were examining an Oak C-250 unit, after we removed the mechanism from the cabinet we discovered something unusual.

From the shape of it, and the compression marks left in it, it appears to be a felt vibration damper that was used between the three mechanism mounts (underside) and the cabinet mechanism support brackets.

Have any of you Chippendale (or other "TYPE B" mechanism models) fans encountered any of these?

Best,
Fran

Yes, my C-150 has these in green felt. I don't think my other (later) DDs have them.

My 1915 C 200 and my 1918 C 250 have green felt at each mounting bracket.

Thanks, for posting, guys! It certainly makes sense that there would have been something to isolate the motor plate from the cabinet, now I've learned something new!

I'm going to get myself some felt and make up a few of these! :)

Best,
Fran
