just got this machine. It is a Triumph F in a Model A case. I had to beat the old bearing out yesterday and it was a real job. My first impression of this machine was that it had been re-striped. Look at the Edison script on the rear of the machine? But after thinking awhile, how long does it take for a bearing to swell and freeze in the machine? Why is that Edison script in the wrong spot? It looks like paint? What are you guys thoughts? Monday morning hangover at the Edison plant that day?

I've seen at least one other Triumph F with the trademark on the rear of the upper casting like that. It's legitimate.

I'm looking at two E models here.

One has the signature on the back of the upper casting and also on the front. The other has the signature only on the front.

That makes me very happy. I started to try to remove it yesterday. I am sure glad I asked you guys before I touched it. Now just to find a case and drive pulley. The lower belt pulley got broken in shipping. I had my son throw all the pieces away and they picked the garbage up yesterday, or I would have dug it back out and glued it together. I had no idea they weren't being reproduced. Paul has my US reproducer, I could have him make one? Does anyone else need one?

Although I have never heard of an explanation why, it's not unusual to find the signature on the back of the top casting on Triumphs model E, F & G
As far as the lower belt pulley that should not be a issue. I believe it's the same pulley used on a Home model E & F. Or you could use the pulley from a Home model B, C or D but you would need to drill out the center shaft hole as it is a smaller diameter. Other than that they are the same pulley.

My Model F also has the trademark on the rear, as does another I know of locally. Also the Model G that sold at Stanton's in November had the trademark on the rear. Seems like it's the norm, rather than the exception.

Interesting. Would it be a mistake? Who really notices what's on the back...

I sure appreciate you guys letting me know. I would have removed it. Now if only I can find a case. Its a pretty machine with a very nice bedplate. You can see where I had to remove the bearing. That's what got me asking questions.
