Ok I give up and placing myself at the mercy of the forum. How does this work? It is made by the Encore Co., Newark N.J. I saw an original/in the box on EBay which had nice photo of the instructions. This is identical, I followed the instructions off the photo but it does not come close to working, nor can I see how it possible could. :(

It would have taken me years to come to the conclusion that the whole thing rotated  Especially how it got back to the start of the record. Loved the video as did my wife and daughter who have been listening to me repeat and repeat I can't be this dumb

Really appreciate it Gramophone - I'm going to go upstairs and try it out. Best of holidays to you and yours..

My pleasure and the best to you all as well. Thank goodness someone made the video... ;) :). Actually, there are a few videos showing this type of repeater on YouTube.

If the rubber grip that rotates the screw is hardened it won't work either

Mine worked fairly well but the rubber wheel is on the border. There must be some process soften the rubber a little.

Bill, estott is correct regarding hard rubber. You may get lucky and find a piece of surgical or auto vacuum rubber tubing that may be the same diameter. Then, you can replace it and have it work just like new.
Of course if it could damage the repeater trying to change this rubber.....it would be better to leave it as is and enjoy the novelty of it.... ;).

You might try automotive brake fluid to soften the rubber... it sometimes works if the rubber isn't as hard as a brick.

I have the exact same repeater. I tried it out once with a crappy record only, after I had seen the youtube video. It is scary and I would not want to use it on any record I like. I keep it as novelty only.

If you use a steel needle, it defeats the purpose of "one play per needle"... I guess you would want a multi-play needle.
