New machine, but need some help

I received a VV-IV for Christmas, but the turntable runs too fast. By too fast I mean it appears to be running 90 or more RPM. What could be the problem, and how could I fix it. Also could a piece of old sewing machine belt be used as brake leather and or governor leather? Pictures will be posted later. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas.

I have tried using the knob, on mine it is on the top left, most of the way down makes it sound like a machinegun, but doesn't slow it down. What can I do?

It sounds as if your governor (speed regulating mechanism) is broken. Over time, the little weights become loose and fall off.

Congratulations on the Victrola. Do you have some records that are from the time the machine was made?
See the PM, please.
