I am thinking its called the Electrola or something like that. There was one on ebay this year I recall and I think I saw mention of it on here. It was a black case similar to the HMV machines, except it was a German Product. It had a power cord and some sort of odd reproducer.. I saw something like it to day and am just curious as to what kind of price range it might have been in?

I remember seeing a Paillard portable with electric pickup and sure enough theres a video on YouTube. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1glRFKjjOFk
I think there's a similar one labeled electrola, but I'm not sure. I'd like to see what responses this thread gets as I really like these early electric pickup sets. I have no idea what they are worth I hoped this helped a little Larry.

The Electrola is German. The Paillard is Swiss. Here is my Paillard, which has not only a choice of acoustic or electric amplification (by connecting to a valve radio amplifier) , but also a choice of spring or electric motor power :

These are two of three versions of the Electrola 106. The basic model was purely a spring driven portable, a cross between the HMV 101 and 102.

The blue machine shown is the Electrola 106U (universal) which has a "Dual" dual standard electric or spring drive motor, and an Electrola 4a soundbox.

The red one is the 106UP (universal, pick-up) This one has the same Dual motor, with the addition of an electrical pick-up, a volume control, and sockets on the side for connecting to a radio or amplifier.

Both these machines were bought from eBay Germany. The blue one cost 50 euros plus shipping, and the red 30 euros, but this was only because someone had set the voltage selector to 200 volts DC, and plugged it into 240 AC. The resulting damage to the capacitors across the mains inlet can be imagined!

Thanks for all your postings. I am not totally sure of which machine it is that I saw. I know it had the electric motor but I didn't investigate it enough to know if it had the electric pick up as well. He had it priced at 399.00 which was why I didn't check into it father. But I did wonder where it fell as far as value and collectable status. It resembles my wind up Telefunken which as terrific sound. If they had increased the size of that horn somewhat it would have been even better. I held the reproducer to the throat of a larger machine, (portable type) and the increase in bass response was very nice. I suspect they were trying to limit the weight as a better portable such as the Brunswick or some Victors were pretty hefty.
