Yes, how was this auction? I was going to attend, but weather not great, a bit of a haul for me, and condition of most stuff looked poor, at best. What did the suitcase model bring? It looked refinished with regards to the bottom portions. Also, were the cylinders in decent condition, and what did they tend to bring?

These are some of the prices I saw. The auction #'s should be correct but I did my best on what the specific models were. Feel free to correct me as I did the best I could with my limited knowledge on many of these models. Most pieces were pretty rough and missing parts.

#9 Model Q? $120
#12 Model Q? $170
#11 Model Q $140
#10 Model Q $75
#6 Berliner $1400
#5 Victor Z $900
#4 Zonophone $800
#7 Victor R $500
#24 Columbia $130
#22 Eagle $165
#13 ?? $240

Most of the cylinders went for about $2 each I believe. I left early so I missed a handful. Maybe someone else here has more info.

Thanks DGSPros! To the readership -you must add 10% (which was reasonable) to each of the listed results. I also left early due to increasingly foul weather but all of these machines were in serious need of rehabilitation. The Berliner came with a bag of parts that contained most of the brake, the govenor and other assorted small bits. I hope whoever got it for 1500+ the rest of the motor was intact! John

I bought 8 lots of the cylinders and ended up with quite a few 5000 series, two lambert cylinders and several nice ones with original lids. This was definitely one sale where you had to preview and look over everything carefully. The cylinders ranged in excellent to total throw away condition. It looks like they made up the cylinder lots by matching box types. Cylinder box lots of 15-30 cylinders ranged from $10.00 to $100.00 .

I think this was part of a collection that was heavily picked over. There was not really one phonograph in good working condition that would have been an everyday player with that many records. Only 2 needle tins in a sale of this size?

I was surprised at what some of the antique /flea market dealers were paying for average condition 78 records, rusty horns, and internal horn/speakers.

I found a receipt inside one of the cylinders and the owners name was Michael Semenoff where he paid $4.00 in 1978 for the cylinder Old Mcdonald had a farm. I found his obituary online;

Michael Semenoff, 97, of Raritan Township, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at his home.

Born in New York City, son of the late Paul and Mary Bartrinchuk Semenoff, he had formerly resided in Manville, and had resided in the Flemington area most of his life.

Michael was a veteran of World War II and was a self-employed electrician.

Surviving are a sister, Mary Semenoff of Raritan Township; two nieces and one nephew.

Yes, this collection was the estate of a 97 year old man, so that must be him.

Does anyone know what the Edison Suitcase phonograph brought? I don't believe it was in working condition.
