I've read here and there about Expert and Bruce styli for Diamond Discs. Which is better? Also, where do the best replacement diaphragms/linkages/stylus bars come from?

As the first tester of the Bruce Stylus I can tell you that it stands out for the clarity of sound and ability to maintain its shape without damage to the records. I can not say the same for the other. I am near 1,800 sides now with no change in the stylus quality or surfaces.

I'm looking forward to your final analysis when you're finished with your testing Larry! I finally "met" Steve Medved through a series of emails - on Diamond Disc Reproducers - specifically the electric stop version(s) that were used. He gave me a quick tutorial on the Bruce stylus, and was gracious enough to provide me with a reproducer specimen for my Electric Automatic Stop, AKA the "Duncan Stop", research.

Thank you, and all the associated parties, for your diligent efforts in helping to provide the Diamond Disc Phonograph world with a possible replacement.

Best,
fran

Hi Fran,

Steven now has a large order in for the new Disc and Cylinder Stylus. I would think that those interested could contact him to be put on a waiting list. With the new stylus and the results so far he has been very busy restoring reproducers for customers. I have been busy trying to keep up with the diaphragms needed for that work.

Hi Larry, I sent him an email yesterday and asked him to let me know when he has the necessary parts to mechanically restore the one he supplied me with - with one of your diaphragms and a Bruce stylus. I can wait, there's no hurry for me to finish the electric brake mechanism on my C250.

Originally, I had considered using the parts from it to modify my existing reproducer for the electric brake mechanism on my C250, after careful consideration, I elected to leave the one I currently have on it original (If it ain't broke, don't fix it ;) )

I have a post in the Yankee Trader looking to trade one of my all original sidearm Model C reproducers for a comparable "Duncan Stop" reproducer. It was suggested by one of the members here that I try Steve, and that's why I contacted him in the first place. He was incredibly helpful. He's one of the "good ones", for sure.

Best,
Fran

Well I think my diamond just croaked, because I'm noticing a very pronounced increase in record wear (basically, "Oh crap, where did those brown lines come from!?"). Can somebody PM me the email address of this Steven Medved man?

I found it somewhere in the Forum. You ask him a question and he replies with half a book. This guy must know basically all there is to know about reproducers.
