Susie's Feller - Al Lentz and His Orchestra

Here's a record I acquired recently. It's on a British Imperial (Imperial 1712, recordeded August 1926), but is was originally issued on Banner, which explains that typical budget label sound.

A great record, with vocal by mr. Lentz himself. I wonder what instrument we hear from 2:14 and onwards. Or is it just some really weird scatting?

Enjoy!

Sounds like a trombone with a plunger or mute.

No, Lentz is "Effin'", in the manner of Ukelele Ike. Nice record.

I 'ce been partial to Lentz's records since coming across a copy of 'Deed I Do on red label Oriole when I was twelve.
