I am currently talking with the seller about purchasing this phonograph here
http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/atq/4838382170.html
Obviously, I want to get rid of that panel and put a proper grille back in. Is that difficult to find or make?

Oh, by the way. This happened last week:
Winsleydale: I'm not really a collector, per se...
HisMastersVoice: You say that now.
And now:
Winsleydale: *just bought Edison Standard from Jerry B., planning on buying Brunswick Ultona console at a hell of a deal*
Well played, HisMastersVoice. Well played.

I would save your money. Better deals on better machines can be had. As mentioned before by others....."patience" is what will make a better collection.

A better deal than $95? Where and how?

Come on down to Hillsdale MI and we can fix you up with a Rey nice machine or two for around that price. Heck, we can sit down for coffee and rebuild the reproducer together before you take it home.
Hillsdale is terribly isolated, you see, and we don't get many visitors...

I think you are missing the point. These big and rather ugly machines are just not desirable. To have a grill made will cost far more then the selling price. Which is already too much for one in this condition.
Therefore, it is better to save your money for when a more attractive and desirable machine comes along...

I thought the Ultonas were good machines?? However I have been wrong before and will be wrong again so if I am wrong this time, I'll just chalk it down and move on, I guess.

These Brunswicks are good machines, but if you are patient you will find a complete example that will cost you less than buying this & finding or making a new grille. There is not a lot of collector value to these consoles and fine examples go for considerably under $200
