Well, I'm working on that right now. The first will be 'Phoebe Jane' as a limited direct reproduction run, taken directly from the only known Blue Amberol of Sophie, that I know of. This was either a custom made BA or, as another theory goes, actually a test record for a possible BA re-issue. As we all know, it did not come that far.

I prefer not to make too many announcements, but 'Some of these Days' is definitely on near top of my to-do list and should be there by the end of the year to next year early spring.

Will this be a direct copy of a Blue Amberol cylinder, or will it be a remaster?
Either way it will be nice.

My top two Sophie cylinders would be "Reuben Rag" and "That Lovin' Rag" !!

The direct repro of 'Phoebe Jane' will be a direct copy, not a re-cut. As this is the only celluloid Sophie Tucker, I wanted to take the chance of doing that. Any other title has to be re-cut, otherwise one would have to sacrifice an original wax cylinder, which is not an option for me.

With my last brown wax reproduction there have been some great accomplishments made to get better overtones for acoustic recording sources, while keeping electric sources more smooth.

I have also thought of 2-minutes of Sophie, of which some should follow too. I had planned to start with 'Some of these Days' first, but then the Blue Amberol of 'Phoebe Jane' came along and I couldn't resist to give it try. This one is currently in pre-production as the half-cut title end does currently cause some problems to be solved. But I pretty confident to have it ready by April for the Wayne Show. This run is will be limited to 20-30 copies in total, depending on the production outcome.

Aside from that I am working on another an 1893 North American channel rim with the Washington Post March, hopefully also ready by April.

I can make Sophie Tucker on brown wax. If you want. I do want peoples honest opinion on the acoustic dubbing quality of cylinders I have made over the years?? Is it good? I have used an electrical dubbing method too, but To me it actually is not as good sounding as with a studio acoustic recorder. By the way wax can be made as hard as one wants, I know some of the original GM records have been played thousands of times as still sound good. The metal Aluminum hardens the cylinders, Edison Gold moulded for instance has .25% Al while brown wax originals have .45-.50%, in this case the brown wax has more metallic binder, however the Gold Moulded have a few other elements, such as pine tar, zinc and copper precipitates, Brazil wax. The early, flat end, no title Edison records have regular brown wax base, a slight reduction in aluminum and Brazil wax added.



I have a few of the epoxy moulded records, they are very nice indeed, they do not scratch, and non breakable.
