The museum I volunteer at (Musical Instrument Museum) has just acquired a small collection of some nice mechanical instruments, including a Hexaphone 104. We've been told that it was in working condition, and from a cursory inspection it looks ready to go. Nicely oiled and greased, etc. I'm not overly familiar with the mechanism, other than to check all the gears and bearings for clearance, etc. and a basic knowledge of how it works, but want to know if there are any specific watch outs or peculiarities. Because this is now in the museum, they would like to see if it does work, but I do not want to start it until I'm sure it's OK. I did find that the cord link to the reproducer stylus and diaphragm is broken, so for the moment, no sound anyway. Any help appreciated.
