A product called GoJo was used as a cleaner???

Hello; I wasn't logged in and was going through listings in the machine forum and found an entry from December 2014, where the person added photos and was talking about a 130 Santa had gotten them for Christmas.

One of the photos showed one side "cleaned" and the other side "as received" and the descriptive text talked to how great the "cleaned" side looked after using "GoJo". And, the effect was impressive.

Question: I'm familiar with a pumice stone based hand cleaner by this name..., but wondered if that could be what was used. I even searched for "GoJo" and that hand cleaning product was all I could find. Can anyone tell me if that is the product being used? If it is, I gather the intent is like polishing compound used on a car? If a specific GoJo product is being used for "cleaning" old residue from phonograph finishes can anyone ID what product?

If another product also called GoJo is the one being used, can anyone ID what that product is?

Thanks

The Gojo that's being referenced is the hand cleaner, however the non-pumice version
is the only one that should be used. I've purchase mine here in Canada at the NAPA auto
parts store and they had the pumice, non-pumice, and the fine Italian pumice (I was sooo tempted),
but always go non-pumice.

The other product we like is Kotton Klenser. I'd suggest buying a little tub of each and giving us your opinion. Jerry Blais

Thanks for both of your feedback entries. I've been searching the web and found a GOJO product in a white tub with red letters that is a hand cleaner without pumice..., and another GOJO product in an orange container that is a hand cleaner without pumice and has orange oil in it. Do you recommend one over the other?

I've found several Kotton Klenser products as well but is the one you are referring to the Wood Restoration Cleaner, or another product?

Thanks, Joe

Non-pumice GoJo (white tub) is what I use. I haven't tried the orange oil one as the regular stuff works just fine, equally as well as Kotton Kleanser and it costs a fraction of the price of KK (I've used both).

Here are some photos of a VV-130 (ironically) that I did with GoJo a few years ago.

Joe, The company that makes Kotton Klenser now makes several products, but what you want for cleaning machine surfaces is their regular cleaner. It's in a white plastic tub with "CLEANER" on it in big blue letters and it is remarkable stuff and super easy to use. You just paint it one with a brush, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe it off (I just use paper towels). It takes off the grunge without harming the original finish.

I also really like their Lemon Oil Beeswax Polish. I apply that after doing the cleaning with the KK and letting it sit a couple of days to dry thoroughly.

To use Gojo (the non pumice type)just apply it generously let it sit for a short while then clean off with a soft cloth. Repeat until you are happy. For built up dirt and grime you can even use a soft toothbrush.

Keep an eye on the decals though! If there is not a layer of shellack or lacquer on top of the decal then the Gojo can strip off the decal. I have used it very carefully on decalled areas but best with a mild soapy water and soft cloth.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress

Bruce

Haven't tried it. Not sure I would as the regular works so very well.
