Here are some pictures of a new project machine. A very early ERJ Monarch, WITHOUT a split top. The case is actually in fairly nice unrestored condition, the motor is nice and greasy, and the record hold down is original. It is however in need of parts. I'll be posting in the trader section my needs, and any help appreciated. I've been looking for one of these for a while and thanks to the sharp eyes of a forum member I was able to snag this one.

Question: What restoration does the case need? From what I can see I wouldn't touch that original surface whatsoever.

Are the two spindles on the front of the case different. I'm referring to the bottom of them they just appear different to my eyes. One might be upside down.. LOL great start to a fine project.. Good luck.

Actually, one spindle appears to have been applied upside down or was reapplied at a later date that way. Either way, an easy fix... .
Great find Penman. Finding one "without" a cracked top is like hens teeth... . Parts.....that may be a bit of a challenge.

Nice that a forum member notified you..... .

I only plan a light cleaning. The surface really is pretty good.

Good call to both of you. Yes it appears that one spindle was put on upside down originally. When I first noticed that I wondered how many other early machines were possibly like that. There is no sign that the case has ever been apart
