Might be a good project for one of our members.
Machine is in Huntington, WV about an hour and a half from Athens, Ohio.

Did anyone here go after this?
If not, by great luck is anyone passing through Huntington, W. Virginia on the way to the Wayne, NJ Show?

That's a nice machine. I always thought that these late Orthophonic machines had a mustard felt on the turntable. This one is green. Any one know?

Harvey,
The 8-9 came with a green leatherette turntable covering.
Not the usual mustard/brownish felt.

Harvey,
I just picked up a VV 8-35 last weekend. From what I have read, it shares the same metal horn as the 8-9. The 8-35 has a green leather pad on the turntable, similar to the black leather ones on the 2-55 portables (just green). I do not have a VV 8-9 but it has been on my want list for a year or two. This one is just too far to go for me-especially after just getting the 8-35.

I wish I could grab it, but too far, too big, no room...
(And then there's Sweetie Face, my big old wife...

Cosmetically it looks all correct and in very nice condition. Mechanically it says it needs some work.
Wish I had a way to bring it home but it's just a bit too far from me.
