Edison Standard Spring Barrel Question

I have 2 Edison Standards that the springs were removed. I have 3 different types of barrels and want to make sure the right one gets put back. Can someone post a pic of a known Model A barrel. One I have is closed and another has spoke like design and another has an inspection hole. The other machine is a Model B. Thanks in advance.

Hi Joe.
The spoked-type barrel is for the Standard model A with the green oak New Style case. The very early barrel on the square top Standard A is much smaller and has inspection holes. The others I have on the B, C, D & F have the inspection hole. I'm not sure about the no-hole type. Perhaps somebody else may have one?

Martin

Thanks, Martin. That is what I suspected but I just wanted it verified.

Joe...I don't want to hijack your thread, I just bought a standard model B
and I noticed the inspection hole in the spring barrel, and since I'm new
with these edison cylinder machines, I have a question: Can the inspection
hole also be used to put some grease or gear oil in to keep the spring
lubricated?
Thanks

Gene,
I imagine many folks did exactly what you described back in the day for a quick fix. Obviously the far better approach is cleaning the whole mess out and starting fresh. It probably wouldn't hurt much if you tried it. I'd want to put some newspaper or paper towels in the case to catch the extra oil, however.

There was apparently an overlap: my recently acquired B has the 'spoked' type barrel.

Hi Bill.
You probably saw this question coming a mile away: what's the serial number on your B?
