The little piece of wire broke off. It doesn't let the pawl back on the gear that holds the spring when you stop winding the phonograph. Any one have a Clarke and let me know where the wire goes? Any help would be appreciated.

Alas, my Talkophone (not a Clarke) has a different arrangement of the pawl...
But it seems that the spring should be exerting upward pressure on the tail end of the pawl when flexed: is there an anchor post or hole in the casting for the other end of the spring?

Bill,
I might have figured it out. I think you loosen the housing and poke the wire underneath and tighten the housing back up and it places the pawl up against the gear. It worked for a little while but I need to find a different piece of wire because what I have is to short since it had broken off.

If there is a good hobby/model shop near you, you should be able to find piano wire in various gauges...
