Weird? Edison phono works WWI bomber sight.

I was cruising the internet, and found something odd. A WWI era Edison phono works bomber sight. Can anyone shed light on this for me?

Thomas Edison and his various companies did a lot for the military as did most companies of the time . the victor company even made wings for planes.

This brings to mind the wartime production (both WWI and WWII) of binnacles for the US Navy, by the Lionel Corporation, otherwise famous for O-gauge model trains!

Thanks. It caught me off gaurd when I came across it. I had heard Edison had developed plans for a guided torpedo, and other military items. The articles said Edison refused to do any contracts with the military though.
