I have been sorting through my little 2-minute wax cylinder collection to decide what to keep and what to dispose of. What I observed is that with only one exception, a Columbia that is cracked, the Columbias have survived in far better condition than the Edisons; none affected by mold and far less surface noise. I realize, of course, that it could just be a coincidence, but wondered if others might have had the same experience.
