For one of my Columbia Eagles (nickel-plated Model B) pictured below I am in need of one of the screws used on the mainspring barrel (half) to secure the outer end of one of the two springs. It's very difficult to describe so I have posted 2 pictures below to better describe the screw I am looking for. In the close up picture, the screw I need is the one on the LEFT. Ron Sitko has the screws on the right side that are used to secure the 2 mainspring barrel halves together - BUT - he does not carry the screw on the left which is the one I need.

I have the spring barrel screw for the left half of the barrel (seen below in the close up) but this same spring barrel screw for the right half of the barrel is missing!

I will be incredibly delighted to hear from anyone who can help me and I will be happy to pay your price for this screw!

I think that is just a 10-24 machine screw. If nobody has one, and I would be surprised if George Vollema can't help you out, then a trip to the hardware store should fix you right up.

Your Columbia B Eagle is just gorgeous! The nickel plating is nice and shiny with no pitting. I don't have an Eagle in my collection yet but hopefully I will find one.

Thanks for your reply, Dave. That would be awesome if this is a simple 10-24 screw. I have not removed the one existing screw that I have since it's still securing the end of my one remaining spring. But it makes a good deal of sense. This spring barrel is unlike most Columbia Eagle (model B) spring barrels. It's similar to the Columbia AB McDonald spring barrel.

Thanks Nick. This one is an early nickel plated version of the Columbia model B that was briefly offered in 1898 (as I recall) at additional cost. Not many people opted to pay extra for these nickel plated model B's and they seldom surface today. I would really like to complete this. I've owned this for years and am just now getting my butt going on completing it!

Ever since I began researching the Eagle Graphophone, I've kept a database of serial numbers. The "Nickeled & Polished" examples like yours seem to fall into the 146,500 - 153,500 serial numbers. I'd be obliged to know yours.

You probably already know this but the Columbia B cost $10 new and was nicknamed the Eagle because of the $10 gold piece that was used at the time. It was also sold with a wooden base and a cover it cost $12.00 and the nickel plating was available for an extra $3.00. I got this information from one of Rene Rondeau's videos on YouTube I watched a while back. Just wanted to throw in that interesting fact.

My pleasure. Mine is serial number 152536. I've also included a picture of the ID plate below. I've not cleaned it up so my apologies for some age soiling present on the plate and lighting was not the best (cloudy this morning!).
