Has this happened to anyone else?

So today when I went to grab one of my favorite 78s out from my Victor a pesky little fellow plopped right out of albums along with the record right into my hand, it was one of those Stinkbugs! :o Within these past few years with both the number of my records and phonographs increasing I have noticed these anoying critters finding their way into my records and phonographs more and more as time passes! So has anyone had to deal with with things inside/ on your phonographs and records or am I the only one? :?

Are they just hiding in the albums? I can't picture them feasting on old brown paper, the way 'silverfish' might. Maybe a couple of mothballs in each Victrola's record compartment would discourage them (?) ...

I assume that you are referring to the Chinese stink bugs that are spreading across North America. We have them real bad here, however, they have avoided my phonos and records. As I understand it, they seek warmth. Maybe you can try changing the location of your records and machines to a cooler area to see if they follow or remain in the same area.

We deal with them using a Bugzooka. Once we armed ourselves with a couple of these things, the population is kept in check with no odiferous emmissions.

I recently sent Ron Stiko a motor for a new spring. When I got it back the first thing out of the box was, you guessed it, a stink bug which promptly flew away. :D

We have something that's way more fun and just as effective. Same form factor as the bugzooka thingie, but it has a battery operated vacuum at one end and a plug at the other - with a long clear plastic tube in between. Great fun to vacuum up spiders and flies, especially when you mix the two. Plug it up and watch the ensuing dance...spoiler alert: the spiders always win. Once everything in there is dead you disassemble and clean it out.

I have them, and they can leave brown stains on your record sleeves - I had a nest full of those darn things inside one of my horns. Don't squash them,,,, yuck
