What's the difference between a soundbox and a reproducer?

Can these terms be interchangeable? Or do they really each apply to something more specific?

Semi-interchangable. Cylinder machines take reproducers, soundbox is a term most often associated with lateral cut disc machines but they get called reproducers as well.

I've always thought soundbox was a term "invented" by Emile Berliner for the gramophone.
Most advertising I've seen for disc machines tend to use "soundbox" rather than reproducer, although Pathé & Paillard soundboxes both have "reproducer" printed on them.
For some bizarre reason, Rexonola here in Australia called them Speakers.
Being a mainly HMV & Edison collector early on, I always refer to "reproducers" on all cylinder machines & diamond disc machines, while I call them "soundboxes" on all other disc machines.
